College 1st—Empowering Students for College and Career Success

Students learn by doing in the classroom and in the workplace

MISSION, Texas — College 1st is a nonprofit in the Rio Grande Valley that works with school districts, educational service centers and post-secondary institutions to prepare students for college or career success. The College 1st program is customized to specific school district needs, focusing on reinforcing academic content areas and providing students the knowledge, guidance and tools for high school, college and career success.

In partnership with Ford Fund's Next Generation Learning (Ford NGL) program, College 1st is utilizing Ford NGL's proven career academy model to help transform high school education. Students apply their academics in real-world situations focused on their field of interest. Young people connect with businesses to experience first-hand the challenges of the workplace.
